SAATHI Project is designed into 6 major components in which it functions:

First Intervention

  • Principal Workshop to introduce SAATHI Model.
  • First Visit to Schools.
  • SMC Workshops.

Teacher Training and Support

  • Selection of 5 SAATHI Teacher Coordinators.
  • Residential Training for one teacher from every school.
  • District level training for remaining teachers to be trained by their peers.
  • Yearly offsite training for one teacher from every school.

Counselor and Volunteer Training

  • Creation of Resource Pool of Experts.
  • Engaging Professional Counselors and Volunteers in the Project.

Offsite Training Camp

  • Pre-camp Activities in Schools SAATHI Teacher Coordinators to select 30 students.
  • Selected students to be taken for offsite camps.
  • Capacity building camps for students as Peer Educators.

Parental Counseling

  • Teachers to conduct Parental Counseling to de-stigmatise drug abuse issues.
  • To enhance knowledge about drug abuse patterns and prevention strategies.

Community Outreach

  • This involves fostering a partnership between community and school to develop approaches to education for drug abuse prevention
  • Outreach Activities facilitated by Peer Educators
